Morpheus 8
What is it?
Morpheus 8 is a transformative skin treatment that will achieve dramatic results in renewing and lifting the skin for improved texture, laxity, and structure.
Morpheus 8 works by combining micro-needling and radio-frequency thermal technology. The needles penetrate the skin and deliver the radiofrequency to different skin layers. The treatment will resurface the skin to reduce the appearance of acne scarring and uneven skin texture. The treatment will also lift and tighten loose or sagging skin; as well as reduce and prevent the formation of wrinkles, not to mention minimise the visibility of large pores.
Micro-needling causes microscopic trauma to the skin, this will in turn stimulate skin cells to up regulate collagen production. Radiofrequency is scientifically proven to gently heat skin cells to stimulate production of collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin becomes tighter and firmer.
Morpheus8 is especially innovative as it can penetrate deep into the skin and within the subcutaneous (fat) layer to treat several concerns with very little downtime. Working across the lower face it can be adjusted to dissolve fat and tighten the skin all at once. For best results a course of 3-6 treatments is recommended.
How does it work?
Morpheus8 is a combination of micro-needling and Radiofrequency (RF).
RF energy is a scientifically proven method to remodel and rebuild collagen. It is minimally invasive, using a matrix of micro pins the RF is delivered to all layers of the skin. As a result, this stimulates the skin to renew the deeper layers of the skin.
Is it safe?
Yes, the level of energy and the depth it’s delivered to is carefully controlled. This ensures that the treatment targets only the top 4mm of the skin layer to avoid any major structures such as nerve and vasculature.
Which areas can be treated?
The most targeted areas are the face and neck. The body can also be treated where skin thinning becomes apparent such as the abdomen, back or legs.
Morpheus8 also plays a role in targeting acne scarring.
Is it painful?
IS THERE ANY DISCOMFORT DURING MORPHEUS 8 TREATMENT?
Each patient has a different pain threshold. You will receive a topical anaesthetic to ease any discomfort during the treatment – most clients find this treatment to be relatively pain free.
Can I have other treatments?
CAN I HAVE OTHER TREATMENTS AROUND THE SAME TIME?
Yes, Morpheus8 can be used in the same treatment session, or a few days after other treatments. Morpheus8 can also be combined with other ln-Mode energy treatments or injectables to achieve more extensive results.
If you are planning to have dermal fillers – we’d advise having this done 4 weeks after your Morpheus8 treatment. Botulinum Toxin A treatments two weeks either side of your Morpheus8 treatment should be fine.
Pre-treatment instructions:
Discontinue the use of any topical retinoid therapy.
- Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun, if you must be in the sun use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30.
- Avoid taking anticoagulants (aspirin, Mobic, ibuprofen, naproxen) for one week if your medical condition allows.
- If possible, please arrive with clean skin. No make-up, perfume, powder, or bath oil should be present.
What to expect
- Immediately after treatment most patients will experience a clinical endpoint of redness for 1-3 days. Slight to moderate swelling and mild to moderate sunburn sensation, are also common post treatment and may last 1-3 days.
- Skin may crust and peel for 2-7 days, depending on treatment setting.
- Skin may feel warm and tighter than usual
- Skin may crust and peel for 3-7 days after treatment
- Redness and swelling may last for 3-4 days
Post-treatment instructions

Before discharge a topical ointment may be applied to the face, no bandages or wraps are necessary.

You may be given samples of a topical balm to use for the 3 days after the procedure or you may apply Aquaphor if you chose.

Makeup may not be worn for 24 hours after the procedure. If there are no areas with active oozing and warm redness, makeup may be applied after this time.

You may resume the use of your usual skin care products (usually 2-3 days). Retinoids may be used 5-7 days after treatment.

There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, avoid scrubbing or trauma to the treated areas, as if you had a sunburn.

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation).

The use of zinc oxide sunblock SPF 30 frequently after 24-48 hours.

Multiple treatments over a period of several months may be required to achieve the desired response. You will notice immediate as well as longer term improvements in your skin. The time for skin cell turnover is 28 days so most people will begin to see increased results after this time.
When will I see results?
Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment.
